Social Media Has Businesses Buzzing Part II
Social media integration is creating big business buzz. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube are blazing the way with effective PR, marketing and branding for a new generation. Businesses are becoming big fans, and are integrating social media strategies into their overall plans. Two recent studies spotlight trends in social and online media awareness among marketers. Yesterday, WordSmith plunged into an Alterian study about social media marketing. Today we are tuning into online users emerging as brand advocates.
Audiences Transcend Online/Offline Worlds, Becoming Influential Brand Advocates
Word-of-mouth has always been vital in building loyal customers. Audiences – whether online or offline – are trusted sources when making purchasing decisions.
As mentioned, a recent study from PostRelease showed how online forum users are enthusiastic brand advocates and are taking their online activities to the masses, telling others about products and services they recommend. Not only are they recommending brands to their family and friends, they are also more likely to publish blogs and organize meet-ups, compared to non-forum users.
The PostRelease survey focuses on consumer’s organization offline. Consumers are merging their online and offline influences, and this could be a huge opportunity for any savvy marketer who sees these new possibilities.
Marketers are becoming acutely aware of the need to integrate new media activities into their existing marketing plans and consumers are demanding greater social media engagement from the brands they trust most. This could be a win-win for message maker and audience alike if carried out strategically.
Now it’s your turn. How have you seen the growing integration of social media marketing change your company’s marketing strategy? As social media matures, how do you see integration taking shape? WordSmith wants your feedback, so start talking!
